Legendary Australian combat cameraman Neil Davis wrote these two lines by Thomas Mordaunt (1730-1809) in every diary he kept from his arrival in Vietnam in 1964 until he was killed in a coup in Thailand in 1985.

“One crowded hour of glorious life is worth an age without a name’”

“Neil Davis and I sat down…We decided to return to Saigon. No matter what, we would stay. We would refuse any US helicopter evacuation like the one we had just experienced…We would see the war through to the end.”
